USSR 1940s 7.62x54r Lead Core Light Ball

Drew I.
The 7.62x54r is an odd rifle cartridge when you are used to rimless ammo like most military forces these days have adopted. It was designed to be used in the Mosin Nagant and is still used today in weapons like the SVT 40, SVD Dragonov, and machine guns like the PKM. First designed in 1891, this cartridge is the oldest standard issue rifle cartridge still used today by a military force. 7.62x54r can trace it's design from the French 8mm label cartridge, the first smokeless powder cartridge ever.
