With the passage of Starfleet’s 2206 FEDERAL SHIPBUILDING AND DRYDOCK CONSTRUCTION DIRECTIVE SF9O5 designating all future military shipbuilding and dry-dock construction be the sole responsibility of Starfleet, it was apparent that the Federation’s robust expansion beyond the SOL System required the continual expansion of its’ construction and maintenance facilities, like the San Francisco and Brooklyn orbital shipyards and Spaceport Terra 1. To that end, in 2225, Starfleet authorized construction of four “open cage” style Type 1 Orbital Dry-dock Facilities, each 420 meters in length, 225 meters in width, and 165 meters to the bottom of the dual seven segment maintenance cage structure, to be located near Starfleet’s Spaceport. This model represents Dry-dock Station 4 (NAR-20750), commissioned in 2232 as part of the San Francisco Fleet Shipyard complex and last of the Type 1 facilities, and shown here in 2237 with Spaceport Terra 1 in the background.
